The Cares Act employee retention credit (ERC) remains a vital lifeline for employers, especially small and medium employers, still recovering from the COVID pandemic. In fact, many employers would not have survived without it and are still not fully recovered from the harsh economic damage caused by the pandemic and the supply chain disruptions that are still affecting the economy. Many employers have just recently completed their ERC claims, while others are still in process of doing so.

Congress must not cut off the ability of employers to claim the ERC. This vital lifeline must continue so that employers that protected their employees during the pandemic receive the credit they have earned.

I urge to oppose vigorously any effort by Congress to limit or prematurely terminate the ERC program.
